When I first started my online business I had no idea where to begin. I did create a group and had a small list but foolishly I abandoned the list and the group. What had originally taken me just a few short months now took me years to regain.One day I decided to sit down and ask myself where I went wrong. What had I done the first time that was so successful that I was not doing now?It wasn’t until just a few short months ago that I finally discovered what I had known but forgotten so many years before.You can go out and spend thousands of dollars on various eBooks about attraction marketing and list building or you can follow these simple tools to increasing your exposure and building your online list.Tip #1You need a domain nameHaving a domain name establishes a presence. Makes you stand out from the millions of other online marketers online. You can get domain names from as little as $.99 to about $20 for a year. Some people with more expendable income choose already established domain names but those can run thousands of dollars so if you are like me and just getting started going with a lesser known more affordable domain name will be better for you.You will need to build your online reputation but in the long run the hard work will pay off.Tip #2You need an auto responderIf you have a list you will need an auto responder. Trying to keep in touch with thousands of subscribers will be a whole lot easier if you have a good auto responder. With an auto responder you can create your messages in advance. Keep track of who is signing up, decide on how often your list receives emails from you and also keep track on what is happening with your list.Auto responders vary in price but you can get one for on average about $30 per month. Keep in mind that all of these expenses are part of operating a business and if you keep track of your expenses well you can talk to your tax advisor about write-offs and tax breaks for some of these expenses.Suggestion: Keep track of your expenses by using one account for all business expenses. Preferably use an account and will provide you with an itemized statement at the end of the year. This way you don’t even need to think about it you just turn in the statement to your tax professional and let them help you maximize your tax benefits.Tip #3You will need a Lead Capture PageIf you want people to sign up to your list you will need a page that asks them to sign up to your list and also provides them with an incentive for signing up to your list. A good incentive is offering a free gift that holds value. You don’t want to offer people something you wouldn’t even want. Without a good incentive chances are you won’t have a whole lot of people flocking to join your list.You have to keep in mind that there are so many other people online asking for the business if what you are offering is a better perceived value than what the other guy is offering you are going to get the contact.If you don’t have anything to offer my suggestion would be to sit down and write some notes down. Start with what you are looking for, what you are trying to attain, and what your goals are. Once you have a clear goal you can start looking online for that item. Once you find it, see if you can have rights to it or create it yourself. If you retain the rights or create it yourself now you have the tools you need to be successful.Never let the slow start or hard work get your down. Keep in mind that those that are trying to sell you on fast and easy are doing just that, trying to sell you. In the end you have to start at the bottom and build yourself up.
